Collin McHugh Throws Two Strong Innings As Astros Top Braves 6-1

Collin McHugh made his Spring Training debut with 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, and allowing 1 hit in two innings against the Braves.  McHugh, who will likely begin 2018 in the bullpen, won his arbitration case against the Astros and will make $5 million this season.

Brian McCann broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the first with a bases loaded fielder’s choice as Marwin Gonzalez scored.  In the 4th inning, Yuli Gurriel hit a home run to left field off of Braves pitcher Matt Soroka to put the Astros up 2-0.

The Astros were able to break the game open in the bottom of the 7th inning as Garrett Stubbs, Randy Cesar, Jon Kemmar, and Myles Straw all racked up 1 RBI a piece.

Braves third baseman Johan Camargo was able to drive in one on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th to put Atlanta on the board.

 

Gerrit Cole makes his Astros debut tomorrow as the club travels to Jupiter, Florida to take on the St. Louis Cardinals and pitcher Miles Mikolas.  The game starts at 12:05CT.
